The book is the record and the selected speeches at the roundtables and panels of the 5th World Forum on China Studies. The World Forum on China Studies is a high-end academic event jointly organized by the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality. As an open international forum, it aims to provide channels for dialogue and platforms for communication for the study of China both at home and abroad. It also intends to reflect the dynamics and trends of research into China, encourage innovative ideas, advance the integration of schools, increase mutual understanding between China and the rest of the world and establish the China study research networks of global influence.The 5th World Forum on China Studies took place at Shanghai Exhibition Center on March 23-24, 2013. Under the theme “China’s Modernization: Road and Prospects”, the forum attracted scholars and opinion leaders from various fields and disciplines to study the development of China and its interaction with the world in the context of globalization and the way of harmonious co-existence between China and the rest of the world after the 18th National Congress of the CPC. The aim of the forum was to increase the understanding within the international community of the basic conditions in China, its values, development paths and domestic and foreign policies.
