The Viajes por España (Spanish Edition) was first published in 1883 when stories about travel were in vogue. Alarcón collected many legends along his journey. He went to Salamanca, Madrid, Santander and Toledo. A lot of words were used to describe landmark buildings like plazas and graveyards in these cities. It was exactly in these landmark buildings that happened many legends about ghosts and stories of love and hatred.
